NBA returning on the 30th July

NBA returning on the 30th July

What to expect?

Twenty-two teams are returning to play from the 30th of July to finalise the 2019-2020 season.

The 22 returning teams for the season will be:

Eastern Conference

  • Milwaukee Bucks
  • Toronto Raptors
  • Boston Celtics
  • Miami Heat
  • Indiana Pacers
  • Philadelphia 76ers
  • Brooklyn Nets
  • Orlando Magic
  • Washington Wizards

Western Conference

  • Los Angeles Lakers
  • LA Clippers
  • Denver Nuggets
  • Utah Jazz
  • Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Houston Rockets
  • Dallas Mavericks
  • Memphis Grizzlies
  • Portland Trail Blazers
  • New Orleans Pelicans
  • Sacramento Kings
  • San Antonio Spurs
  • Phoenix Suns

How many games will each team play?

Each team will play eight games. These games are called seeding games. After each team has played the eight games, the top 7 teams from each conference with the combines records of the regular season and the seeding games will qualify for the 2020 playoffs. The Eighth qualifying position will come down to a 4-/+ game swing with 9th place If there are less than four games between 8th and 9th place, then they will compete against each other to earn the 8th playoff spot. If the 9th spot team beats the 8th spot team twice in a row, then they secure a place in the playoffs. The 8th place team will only need to beat the 9th place team once to go through to the playoffs.

Without a doubt, this does open up the possibility of some controversy for playoff qualifications.
