Brooklyn Nets, EASTERN CONFERENCE

Brooklyn Nets Show They Mean Business With Free Agency Splash

Two years ago the Nets struggled badly limping to a 28 win season, but now after splashing out on four veteran free agents, their young team may suddenly be serious contenders in The Eastern Conference in 2019-20. They made huge strides last year finishing as the No 6 seeds but their postseason trip was short-lived, losing 4-1 to divisional rivals the 76ers in the first round. However, adding a bunch of All-Stars can quickly change your fortunes and they really have pushed the boat out on that one.

Their new additions (medicals allowing) are:

Garrett Temple who will add some defensive steel and at 33 still has a couple of good seasons in him yet.  Signed to a two-year, $10 million contract.

All-NBA centre DeAndre Jordan on a four years $40 million deal.

Add these two to Six-Time Allstar Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant and the rebuild has been done in record time.

Suddenly the Atlantic Division looks scarily competitive and four teams from it look set to make the playoffs again this coming season – however, the Nets will be expecting to finish higher than fourth this time around.
