Opening AP College Football Rankings

With the new season just about to kick off we thought we would have a look at the opening AP top 25 rankings. These are largely meaningless at this stage as no one has any idea how the season will pan out but they are fun to try and predict and even more fun to agree or disagree with. We have our own view which differs just a bit with us having no place for Michigan State who are in a really tough division, Florida State who may struggle post Jimbo Fisher,  Virginia Tech who we simply think are way overrated and Boise who will suffer from being a Group of Five team (of which we think there are better).

In their place we have put Texas A&M who will benefit from Jimbo Fisher’s arrival, Washington State who might just be better than last season despite Luke Falk’s departure and South Florida who might just push UCF for the AAC title this year. Our final difference of opinion is for Utah who despite a really tough early schedule (Washington, Stanford &  Washington State) are our PAC-12 Dark Horses and could easily sneak into the Conference Final. Anyway, things might be a little clearer after week ones games are out of the way.
