Troy Gets Power Five Bragging Rights After Cure Bowl Win

The 2022 Cure Bowl was one of our top 12 bowls to watch. and despite the low score, it didn’t disappoint. Well unless you are a UTSA fan of course and then it sucked big time. The game was one of two halves to be sure with UTSA getting off to a 12-0 lead and dominating.  In fact, the Roadrunners dominated both through the air and on the ground. They finished with 345 yards of offense to the Trojans’ 194.

However, they lost the turnover battle big time as Troy did what they do best, lean on their defense when the going gets tough. This was Troy’s 11th consecutive win and of these six have been one-score games. They forced five turnovers and also held UTSA on 1st and goal in the fourth quarter. The pick of their defensive plays was Linebacker K.J. Robertson’s goal-line interception which he return for 61 yards.

The highlights are below for you to enjoy.

2022 Cure Bowl Highlights

Whatever this was a great advert for both conferences, Troy will almost undoubtedly finish the season ranked in the top 25 while UTSA still finished with double-digit wins. With the playoffs set to expand to 12 teams soon, there may be a chance that we will see teams such as these two playing on an even bigger stage.

The Bahamas Bowl

UAB 24 Miami Ohio 20

We didn’t expect too much from the Bahamas Bowl but were pleasantly surprised this year. Given the stadium was empty it had the atmosphere of a practice game. However, the players didn’t seem to mind and they put on a decent display with a thrilling ending. We won’t give away any spoilers as the highlights are below, but this was another good advert for the Group of Five conferences. The honours went to C-USA and just goes to show that two 6-6 teams can put on a game.
