2018 Outback Bowl SEC v Big Ten

The Outback Bowl has the look of a defensive slugfest and probably more so now that Iowa tight end Noah Fant is sitting it out to focus on the draft. Miss State has relied on the run and a smashmouth defence to get to 8-4 and We don’t expect a lot of passing in this one. Their losses have been to Kentucky, Florida LSU and Alabama so no upsets there and they have decent wins over Texas A&M and Auburn on the resume – both of who won their bowl games with considerable ease.

Iowa are never an easy team to beat but losses to Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue & Northwestern don’t have the same kudos and wins wise there is nothing of note apart from a low scoring one over Iowa State. Without one of their key offensive weapons in Fant, we think they will struggle to score.

Having said al that Miss State hardly set the scoreboard alight and points should be at a premium. Miss State starts as 7 points favourite and we think they will just cover it.

Our prediction is for Miss State to win 24-14.
