2018 Boca Raton Bowl C-USA v MAC
Tonights Bowl entertainment (21/12/23018) is the Bahamas Bowl the 5th ever and what a treat it is for any College team, being played at the Nassau Stadium. It may only hold 15,000 people max but it should be close to capacity and this year it pitches two decent Group of Five teams who on the face of it are quite evenly matched.
MAC West runners-up Toledo are no strangers to Bowl games and this will be their 5th straight season with an appearance. They will be glad it’s not Appalachian state they are facing this year – having lost to them in each of their last two bowl visits and had it been the Mountaineers again this year it would probably be three. Their 7-5 record has included either high scoring wins or fairly comprehensive losses (apart from the EMU loss) and they finished the season well with 4 wins from five to clinch bowl eligibility. No win stands out and no loss was particularly bad – although NIU hardly franked their form with their Boca Raton Bowl performance.
FIU Finished 8-4 and like Toledo they played ACC Miami – losing too but putting up a better performance. They also played quite admirably against another loss to a Power Five team in Indiana and were a trifle unlucky against Marshall in their last outing – and of course, Marshall has just won their sixth consecutive Bowl game.
Toledo are currently 7 point favorites and we think that is far too generous. Overall we think FIU might just sneak this one and pick up their second ever bowl win.
Our prediction FIU 31 Toledo 30
For those who like to keep track of these things we are 5-2 so far straight up and ATS.
