2018 New Orleans Bowl Middle Tennessee v Appalachian State

Five Minutes Spare College Football

2018 New Orleans Bowl C-USA v Sun Belt

This year’s New Orleans Bowl looks like being a good one with Appalachian State coming off of one of their best seasons since joining the FBS – being ranked 25 nationally at one stage, and ending with a 10-2 record and the Sun Belt Championship. In their opening game, they gave Penn State the fright of their lives before losing in OT and their only real blip came the week they were ranked losing to Georgia Southern (not a disgrace by any means). They are 6 point favourites and we think that is a little low.

Their opponents Middle Tennessee had a nice season going 8-5. None of their losses were bad but similarly, none of their wins were particularly impressive with the best being over UAB – who got revenge in the title game.

Overall Appalachian played a slightly better schedule, scored more points per game, conceded fewer and were better on average on both sides of the ball. Yes anything can happen and with coach Scott Satterfield leaving for supposed pastures greener MT do have a chance but we will stick with the Mountaineers.

Our prediction Appalachian for the win 33-23
