Cure Bowl 2018 AAC v Sunbelt

The 2018 College Bowl season kicks off with the fourth ever Cure Bowl on the 15th December 2018. Unlike in the inaugural one in 2015 Conference Tie-in teams will compete this year and it pits Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns against Tulane Green Wave.

Both have similar records going 7-6 & 6-6 respectively with Louisiana-Lafayette having played a game more courtesy of reaching (then losing) the Sun Belt Conference title game.

Tulane who play in the arguably stronger AAC is currently 3.5 points favourite with the oddsmakers and a look at both teams schedules justifies the relatively narrow spread and Tulane’s edge.

The Green Wave have a couple of good wins – against 8-5 Memphis and 7-5 South Florida while not being disgraced in defeat with all but one of their losses being to Bowl eligible teams and they included away games at 12-1 Ohio State, 10-2 Cincinnati,10-3 UAB & 8-4 Houston.

The Ragin Cajuns despite winning 7 have no real win of note – with their best probably being a narrow one against Arkansas State. Loss wise they were not disgraced in defeats to SEC power teams Miss State And Alabama and the conference losses to Appalachian and Troy were also good performances. You have to give them credit for facing two SEC teams however the combined score from the two games probably says it all (112-24).

However, on balance we just feel that Tulane has played the better schedule and are justifiable favourites.

Our prediction Tulane 31-21
