How To Improve At Fifa

Even if you consider yourself a half decent Fifa player, it’s arguably one of the most infuriating games in the world at times.

So, as someone who wins more games than they lose in the FUT champions weekend league, I feel slightly qualified to share some tips on how to become a better player. (These are mainly tips I’ve learned from better players than myself, but I’m still going to try and pass them off as mine anyways…).

Accept that Fifa can be a bit broken at times

One of the biggest things in Fifa is your mentality, and accepting the fact you WILL lose to players who are worse than you sometimes is something you have to do. Players make mistakes due to no fault of your own and your opponents score lucky goals. It is what it is. Don’t let it affect your future games. Whilst on the topic of mindset, don’t let the fact someone has 11 Icons in their starting lineup dishearten you. Some of the best players I’ve played against have had worse teams than me; I often beat those teams with Pele and Gullit. If they weren’t a similar skill level to you, you wouldn’t be put up against them. End of story.

Use players with good stamina

Using players with good stamina is essential. Players with 90+ stamina feel like they’ve got a 10+ attribute card applied to them in the last 20 minutes of the game, so it’s a really important stat in my opinion.

Use your custom tactics

They are becoming more and more commonly edited now, but if you’re still not changing your custom tactics, start doing it. Look up some YouTube videos to see what pros are you using, and find what works for you.

Don’t overuse skill moves

Skill moves are overused at the moment, so you’re more likely to surprise your opponent by not using them. Playing “noobish” can be a good way to win games, because it catches your opponent off guard.

Surprise your opponent and take your time

Don’t rush anything. Look for good passes and hold possession if possible. If you’ve been doing the same thing all game, switch it up and catch your opponent off guard.  Take your time.

Final tips

Don’t overuse the through ball button, don’t dive into challenges, fake bringing your keeper out, use the wings to your advantage, use players with a good passing stat, and most importantly actually think about what you’re doing and where you’re going wrong. I have probably missed a lot off this list, but even by using some of these, you will improve as a player.
