It is believed that Taylor Hawkins was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia, where the band are currently touring. No cause of death has been indicated.
Hawkins joined the band in 1997 after previously touring with singer Alanis Morissette, one of the biggest stars of the 90s. He entered the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of fame in 2005, famous for his incredible drumming talent, superb vocals and stage presence, especially when he takes over for frontman Dave Grohl to cover some of the greats such as Queen.
The band was due to finalise their tour in Auckland the week before Christmas and have recently played themselves in their horror movie Studio 666.
Tributes have been pouring in from all over the globe for Taylor.
