Sweet Tooth – Season 1, Episode 5

What’s in the Freezer?

Overview

The General breaks into Gladys home hoping to find her book with the cure in. But, when she tells him she doesn’t have it, it sets him on the warpath to find Dr Singh.

After Gus & Jepp finally leave the Animal Army, Bear eventually catches up with them, handing Gus’s information on his mother the Army had previously found for him. Jepp finally gives in and decides that he will take Gus on his adventure to Colorado to find his mom. When Bear tells them she will catch the train with them, she leads them to a broken bridge that goes over a huge field of purple flowers Jepp is furious as he thinks it’s part of her plan to get him away from Gus as she is still sceptical of his intentions. None of them is sure if the flowers themselves will harm them, but when Gus unexpectedly falls from a great height into them, he’s greeted by his Pubba, and they have a heartwarming reunion in which his Pubba gives him words of wisdom and tells him to keep going.

Gus finally comes round being dragged out of the field by Jeep and Bear, who have wrapped themselves up the best they could to protect themselves, rather than the thank you they expect when Gus comes round. Nevertheless, Gus bursts straight back into action, knowing there are other hybrids out there just like him that need help and protection.

Pigtails and Bobby play happily while Aimee is contacted to take in a hybrid child after seeing one of her fliers. She refuses when the man on the radio insists on knowing their location to try and protect her and the other hybrids she has taken in so far. Pigtails confide in Aimee that she feels like an outcast amongst the new hybrids as she is more human than them. However, Bobby makes a horrifying find when he comes back to show Aimee that red tape. When she ventures out to see what’s happened, the whole fence has been marked to tell others there are hybrids there.

Adi & Ranis Garden has become overgrown with purple flowers; however, the neighbourhood seems to think it’s down to Doug and his death. Adi is handed a flier by a passer-by hoping Adi has seen Nancy, who has now been missing for 3 days. Instead, Rani’s condition worsens as she has been without treatment for so long and Adi struggles with what happened to his next-door neighbour. Finally, Adi gets a phone call to let him know his ‘secrete sauce has arrived’ and assures Rani that she will be back on her feet in no time as they both head off to his centre. Unfortunately, when they both arrive, Samantha, the girl normally on the front desk, isn’t in and presume she has taken off early.

When they open the box, they find a note, ‘Out of Hybrid’ they are both distraught. While Adi tries to collect his thoughts, Rani notices that the freezer door is open and leaking water. Both of their faces drop as they realise Samantha has clearly found Nancy s body, and they both try to head out to go on the run. Before they can they are met with an angry mob of neighbours. Adi tries to calm them down and tells them that Nancy had been sick. They ask him why he hadn’t just been honest, and Adi explains he feels that the way they have handled previous cases has been wrong. Rani can’t seem to hold in coughs as they stand in front of them, the neighbours quickly grab their masks to put on and then grab the couple to wrap them up in clingfilm, tied to chairs and begin to pour the gas around their house. The pair embrace each other’s hands tightly and from outside the match is struck.

The sound of the neighbours singing as the flames begin to surround Adi and Rani. Adi apologises for giving Rani the Sick from working in the hospital and she tells him it wasn’t him; it was a young boy from a pool party. The flames get higher and closer to them, and the sound of sirens begin, bullets shot, and the house is raided, the fire begins to get put out as the general walks in with his men to save them.
