The Packers have been uncharacteristically active in free agency over the last couple of years, but they have also been quick to jettison players. This has not gone down too well with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who after losing long-time target and good friend Jordy Nelson last year now has to get used to not having Randall Cobb around. He voiced his discontent quite openly last year, and this year has taken to Instagram in a public, and somewhat poetic way to lament the latest change.

“I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged…And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.” #friendship #teammates #brothers #Packers
His frustration is somewhat understandable given that the veteran presence last year was replaced by a number of late round prospects, with mixed results, and now unless they are planning to address the area in the draft he may have to make do again. Green Bay are lucky that they have signed him up to a long term contract.
