For a year and a half, I owned a Google Pixel XL. I was tired of apple and wanted to try something new, so I decided to get the Google Pixel because at the time I got this phone, it was brand new. The next biggest flagship phone. I mainly got this phone because I saw an advert showing some of the features, the unlimited photo storage got me over the moon, so I decided to buy the phone. The phone was amazing and did everything I wanted a phone to do, just had one major issue that made me think twice about getting a Google Pixel 2 or 3! I loved the phone when I had it but decided to go back to apple because of the one mistake I noticed.
First Impressions!
When I first got this phone, I found it hard to use. Since I have only really used a iPhone, this was very difficult for me to get my head around. After a few days use, I knew where to go for everything I loved the phone immediately! The battery life was incredible, going from 100% to 90% in 5 hours! I have never seen a phone like it. All of my phones normally last 5 hours, I was very happy to see that this phone lasted nearly an entre day before needing charge. The camera was amazing, being able to have less pixels when taking an up-close picture. I would say I loved the phone when I first got my hands on it. Had all the apps I needed already installed, so I didn’t need to find them on the internet. Everything was organized which was helpful and after understanding the interface more and more, it became clearer of where everything is. A lot easier than other interfaces I’ve used! Google managed to create one of the best phones I used, and at this point I only used it for a couple of weeks!
Build Quality, In and Outside the Phone!
The build quality was amazing, I dropped the phone a few times without a case or screen protector on it and the phone didn’t smash or anything. The phone had a bit of a bend to it, but nothing that could cause it to break. Google pixel had a massive 5.5-inch display, made it look like a small tablet. Outside the build the phone was stable, in my opinion, however inside the phone is what took my eye back in 2016 after buying it! This phone has 3450mAh power battery which is why this phone lasted for so long without needing to be charged. 12MP (mega Pixel) back face camera could allow incredible image quality! This was running a different version of android, had android’s software with a little bit of googles touch to it! This phone was no joke! Google went all out for it. I can see why they did! Even right now, Google Pixel XL has a better battery than the Pixel 3 XL!
One Major Problem I had!
Overall, the Pixel gave me something I didn’t think I would like in a phone, easy to use, fast and responsive, I didn’t think anything would go wrong, however everything went downhill! The battery life started to go down, meaning I was only able to get maybe 4 hours of usage instead of the whole day, my phone would restart itself time and time again! I was unable to use this phone after because every time I went on Snapchat or Facebook, the phone would restart itself and take an hour rebooting! I think I know why this happened, I would always watch YouTube on my phone instead of my computer and or Laptop, therefore heating up the phone! This was probably the reason since the phone was perfectly fine until I started watching too much YouTube!
My opinion on the phone!
I think Google did a really good job of creating an amazing well-functioning phone! Google are known for having bad luck with there products, but this one is different. This one did everything I wanted a phone to do, was extremely fast, very responsive and had everything I needed already on the phone like; YouTube! This was one of my best phones ever. This will be up there with my current phone: iPhone X. If I had the choice to have 2 phones instead of one and use them both all the time, I would choose the Google Pixel and iPhone X. I think the interface was brilliant since it was easy to navigate and find out how it worked! Well done Google! If I didn’t like the iPhone X I would of went of the Google Pixel 3 XL! Maybe in the future, ill buy the Google Pixel 4 or 5 XL… If Google release phones for that long! All and all, the Google Pixel will be up there as one of my favourite phones, I would recommend it to everyone! Just don’t go on YouTube for an exceptional amount of time, give the phone breaks every now and then!
