We watch the character development of Gus, Jepp, Aimee and Richard (Pubba) as they all go throughout a journey and how their stories intertwine after the “The Great Crumble” 10 years ago.

The characters are not sure what came first, the virus or the hybrids. Gus is a hybrid, half deer half-human in which his dad has set up base for the pair in into Yellowstone national Park hoping to shelter Gus from ‘The Last Men’ who hunt down hybrids. After his Pubba dies from getting ‘the sick’ at age 9 Gus is left to try and work out how to survive and stumbles across a box full of his Pubbas personal belonging including a picture of his mother. After a year he is saved from hunters by a lone traveller named Tommy Jepperd (also know as Jepp or Big Man). Although his father made him promise never to leave the home, he had built them, after Jepp shows him kindness Gus decides that his Pubba was wrong about humans and there are some good ones out there, leading him to the conclusion that he must go to Colorado where his mother is with Jepp. Jepp isn’t over the moon about the idea but enables and protects Gus to get to his destination.

Together they overcome several dangerous situations and meet characters that teach them different lessons along the way to help Gus better understand the world his Pubba worked so hard to shelter and protect him from. This heart-warming series it is full of twists, turns and moral lessons.
