Netflix – After Life. Starring Ricky Gervais – Review

After Life Starring Ricky Gervais

After Life is a show on Netflix where Ricky Gervais is Writer and Director, he Also plays Tony Johnson, a Journalist who is the head of feature stories at the Tambury Gazette. The story revolves around Tony, who is dealing with the death of his wife Lisa, played by Kerry Godliman. Lisa has recorded videos for Tony to help and guide him after her death. Tony, who is suicidal, has a no holds back attitude towards people and life in general. This creates some amazing relationships and hilarious situations.

Afterlife shows a very authentic portrayal of grief smothered in the familiar dark comedy that we have seen in Gervais’s live shows. The programme is a roller coaster ride of emotions. The show provides plenty of belly laughs, as well as moments that really tug on the heartstrings.
