Line of Duty: New series is the ‘scariest yet’

The wait is nearly over for the new Line of Duty series.

After two years of waiting, Line of Duty is back and according to Martin Compston, who plays DI Steve Arnott it’s “definitely the scariest” season yet. In 2017, the season four finale was watched by 7.4 million viewers in 2017 therefore, we all have high hopes for series five.

Line of Duty’s season five trailer for the first episode reveals that three police officers have been murdered in hijack by armed men wearing balaclavas. McClure’s character, DI Kate Fleming says the hijack “required a police insider”.

The final episode of the fourth series revealed four cast suspicions over Dunbar’s Superintendent Ted Hastings for the first time.  Much has been made of the identity of “Balaclava Man”, the ringleader of the criminal gang suspected of working with a corrupt, high-level police officer known as H.

Martin Compston said “He’s the most dangerous guy we’ve come up against by far,”

The new series sees a change of direction for AC-12. Compston added: “Usually the AC-12 remit is going after bent cops, but we’ve been chasing this mythical character H and we’re not getting any luck, so we’re changing tack,”

The Cast

We know the AC-12’s main three will be back: Supt. Ted Hastings, DS Kate Fleming and  DS – now potentially DI – Steve Arnott. Stephen Graham will be joining the series five cast, he will be taking on the role of leader of the mysterious Balaclava men who are the cause of crime for this series. There will even be an attack on DS Steve Arnott. Another character that will be joining is Lisa McQueen who is a key figure in the organised crime group under the command of H. Maneet Bindra is also expected to return.
