Bill Skarsgard to star in The Crow reboot

In 1989, James O’Barr created the comic book anti-hero The Crow. In 1994 the character received an eponymous film with son of Bruce Lee, Brandon Lee to star. Unfortunately the film was surrounded by tragedy following the death of Lee on the set of the film. Despite this the film received 3 sequels, with the fourth entry releasing in 2005, 11 years after the original.

A reboot of the series has been in talks since 2008, going through several iterations of what a reboot may look like. Stephen Norrington (Blade, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) was initially attached, but stepped away in 2011. A handful of other directors have been attached over the years, as well as a slue of alleged castings and speculations being made on the projects that never materialised. Some of these castings included Bradley Cooper, Alexander Skarsgard, Mark Wahlberg, James McAvoy, Luke Evans and Jack Huston.

Through Hollywood Reporter on the 1st of April it was confirmed the project was not completely forgotten. Bill Skarsgard who found recent mainstream success as Pennywise the clown in the IT films has been announced to play Eric Draven with FKA Twigs attached to play Dravens fiancé. Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman, Ghost in the Shell) has been attached to direct and filming is said to begin in June.
