What’s Peoples Problem With COD: Cold War?

The Call of Duty franchise is arguably one of the biggest gaming franchises on earth, with millions of game copies sold every year.

Last year, came a game from the modern warfare series, and this year, we have Black Ops style game called Cold War.

The insanely popular Warzone game surfaced during the lifetime of the last call of duty too, which is probably on of the reasons why the last game has lasted so long, as millions of people still play Warzone daily.

But anyways, there are a lot of people this year who are disappointed with Cold War or just straight up don’t like it.

If you’re like me and you enjoy the game because of the clean multiplayer online experience and the creative new zombies map, you’re left wondering why is this.

I took to reddit to find out why people don’t like the game, and this is what I found out.

SBMM

Okay… I kind of hear this one. Skill based matchmaking isn’t the best feature. It puts you in against people with a similar or higher kill to death ratio than you, making the game always competitive. With SBMM it’s almost impossible to just have a casual game because you’re having to work your socks off to get more kills than deaths.

It makes sense why this is a problem for some people, and some people have even started doing something called reverse boosting, where they kill their character a number of times in the game so it makes them appear to be a worse player on paper, so they get put against worse players.

No improvement

Modern warfare brought a lot to the table last year, with Warzone and just a generally all round good game.

Some people just simply expected more, and don’t like a few features this year, which is fair enough.

It’s harder

Cold War is a harder game to get used to. The mechanics are much different to last years game, and many people who were good last year, are no longer good at the game because they simply can’t adjust to it. I understand also why this puts people off the game, but it’s not the developers fault.

Countless bugs

Something that is the developers fault however is the countless bugs you can find in game. The lobbies are messed up, you get kicked out of your games when trying to load in, and perks you have equipped sometimes don’t work – just to name a few. Some people simply expect better from such a big game franchise, and a game they paid north of £50 for.

The players own problems

After reading for a while it became apparent to me that Modern Warfare made it too easy for everyone. For example, just because you shoot first in Cold War, it doesn’t mean you’re going to kill them. It’s a lot more challenging in some aspects and I think people don’t like that they may have gone from being very good at a game, to average, or even struggling.

But, in my opinion, it’s a quality game. Some bugs do need fixing, but I love the feel of it and the new zombies game mode. There’s more sense of achievement in this game compared to modern warfare too, which is always nice.
