Why Beckham Was Sold By Manchester United…

David Beckham was sold to Real Madrid in 2003, after a wild season at the Red Devil’s, and a changing room confrontation with manager Alex Ferguson.

Beckham left United in 2003.

Former team mate Ryan Giggs has revealed that Becks was sold because he was “arguing every week” and “it was getting too much”.

Players like RVN were also sold by United after squabbles with teammates and staff members.

In his 2013 autobiography, Ferguson said: “In his final season with us, we were aware that David’s work rate was dropping and we had heard rumours of a flirtation between Real Madrid and David’s camp.”

So from this extract it appears that it wasn’t for personal disagreements that Beckham was sold… but I guess it’s up to interpretation as when asked about Fergies track record of getting rid of big names, Ryan Giggs said: “I think the majority of the time it was for football reasons.

“It was to get someone in or the player maybe losing that influence. Or it was just the time.

“The likes of David Beckham it was getting too much, where he was arguing every other week really and it was just time for both parties to move and that happened on a few occasions.”

It seems like it was a mix of personal disagreements and football challenged that caused Beckham to leave. The grass was seemingly greener to him at Real Madrid and no matter how much he loved United, some people just have the desire to keep it moving in life.
