“Hand of God” Ball to be Sold for £2.5m to £3m!

This ball has a lot of history to it, this is the exact ball that was used in the moment that wouldn’t happen again. The moment that would have been shot down by VAR. The “hand of god” ball is set to be sold for a massive price. This ball was used in the famous goal that Diego Maradona scored in the 1986 World Cup quarter final between England and Argentina. 

The match ball that was used for the famous 1986 goal is being sold for an estimated price of £2.5m to £3m.

Maradona scored he opener in that game by punching the ball past the England goalkeeper at the time, Peter Shilton.

During this contest between England and Argentina, the match ended 2-1 and this is due to the controversial goal that took place in 1986 and England were knocked out of the world cup due to this iconic goal.

“The timing of the match, the history between the two teams and the handball have all led to this match going down as one of the most famous and emotive matches in football history, With the history surrounding the ball, we are expecting this lot to be hugely popular when it comes up for auction.” said Graham Budd, chairman of Graham Budd Auctions.
