29th May 2019, Chelsea went up against Arsenal in the Europa League Final. Both sides looked strong and ready to go for this contest. Arsenal training hard and looking confident going into the final, as Chelsea were having issues in training. Higuaín shouting at everyone and even the manager Sarri left training because he was angry at his players… not the best sign when going into a cup final, however Chelsea managed to win the match with ease! Chelsea proving there are still at the top of their game!
No goals were scored in the first half of this contest, Chelsea pushing and pushing for a goal, but in the 47th minute, ex arsenal striker Olivier Giroud scored for Chelsea. Eden Hazard was the star of the show however, scoring 2 goals, one in the 65th minute and once in the 72nd minute. Pedro scored once in the 60th minute as well. Chelsea were on top of their game and despite already being in the Champions League next season, they have made it, so Arsenal are in the Europa League next season once again. Chelsea were unstoppable this time!
Arsenal had one job, even though this was Cech’s last match ever, they shouldn’t have played him. Leno should have been in the starting eleven for this contest, since he is one of their best goalkeepers and has proven it! Cech’s last game was a loss to his former club in the cup final of the Europa League. Arsenal will think twice next time.
One of the highlights of the whole match, was when Rob Green decided to copy John Terry and come onto the pitch wearing his full kit and lifted the trophy up. A rewrite of history! Rob Green wasn’t even on the bench for this contest and hasn’t been all season, he didn’t even get himself a medal for winning the cup!
