Chelsea Agree Deal To Sign Ajax Winger Ziyech

Chelsea have agreed on a deal with Ajax to sign winger Hakim Ziyech this summer.

Ziyech has been directly involved in 166 goals since his Eredivisie debut in 2012, scoring 79 and assisting 87, and was a Chelsea transfer target in the January transfer window, under Frank Lampard. But as he is such a key member of the Ajax squad at the time of writing, they refused to sell him in the transfer window as they chase the Dutch league title. The signing comes as the first by Lampard following Chelsea’s transfer ban.

Ajax have confirmed they have accepted a fee of 40m euros, (potentially rising to 44m euros), with the transfer riding on Ziyech agreeing personal terms.

Ziyech bagged 3 against Chelsea in November.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag spoke on the situation and said: “I am not surprised by the news about Ziyech. I know that our players are very popular with the big clubs in Europe. That is just great.

“I have known for a long time what Hakim wants. He has a picture in mind. He knows exactly which clubs he finds interesting and which not. Chelsea is a fantastic club. When it is final, I am very happy for Hakim, and I am very proud of it.”
