Ofcom have confirmed it will not be investigating Love Island over complaints made about former contestant Lucie Donlan’s treatment.
Around 700 complaints were made to watchdog over the way Lucie was treated by former contestant Joe Garratt and fellow female Islanders. Many viewers are concerned for Lucie and accuse Joe of being controlling after he asked her not to hang around with the male contestants and spend more time being friendly with the female contestants. Lucie has also been seen upset and crying over many times in the show after struggling with friendships with the female contestants.
Ofcom said in a statement: “While we understand some viewers were concerned for her well-being, we think most viewers would expect to see emotionally charged scenes in a programme which shines a light on people’s relationships.
“We also took into account that the contestant received support from others, particularly following her partner’s departure.”
This photo is actually heartbreaking. How are #loveisland just sitting there and letting this happen. Amy has turnt everyone against lucie for no reason and jo really isn’t helping the situation either. I’ve never seen anything like this in all the previous seasons. pic.twitter.com/AoQc6DMbZ3

After leaving Love Island, Joe later told The Sun: “I didn’t manipulate or abuse her and I’m gutted it’s been perceived that way. I’d do everything and anything to help her as she had a hard time in there and didn’t get on with the girls. I thought I did right.”
This year Ofcom have received hundreds of complaints about the islanders…
