Transformers: Rise of the Beasts revealed by Paramount
The title of the seventh film in the Transformers franchise has been confirmed by Paramount during a live stream event this week.
Dubbed Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the upcoming Transformers sequel will be the second film in the franchise not to be directed by Michael Bay following on from 2018s smaller scale Bumblebee.
Bumblebee has been favoured as a ‘return to form’ for the Transformers franchise due to its more quaint, modest plot. Rise of the Beasts has been reported to be much more spectacle driven inline with the Bay features, though hopefully learning a few lessons from Bumblebee on the way.
Set this time in 1994 New York, Peter Cullen is returning as Optimus Prime, with the film serving somewhat as an origin for the autobots time on Earth. Cast as the lead, Anthony Ramos will play the ex-military electronics expert Noah with support from Dominique Fishback confirmed as the museum researcher Elena. As teased by the title, beast Transformers confirmed for the film so far are Optimus Primal, Airazor and Rhinox
The flick will be directed by franchise newcomer Steven Caple Jr. and has a current release date of June 24, 2022
