Rob McElhenney is an actor, director, producer, and screenwriter.

Rob McElhenney Early life and Career

He was Born on 14th April 1977,  in Philadelphia U.S.A. He is the eldest of three children, and his parents are of Irish descent. His parents divorced, and his mother came out as Lesbian. McElhenney has two brothers who are gay, and McElhenney has said that he has always been very close to the gay community.

In his early career, he appeared in “A Civil Action”, “Wonder Boys”, and “Thirteen Conversations About One Thing”. He later had more substantial roles in “Latter Days” and “The Tollbooth”. Rob went on to appear in the Law & Order episode “Thrill”.

Always Sunny

At the age of 25, McElhenney moved from New York City to Los Angeles. He waited on tables whilst between acting jobs. He was introduced to Glenn Howerton by his agent and shortly met Charlie Day. The Three worked on the creation of a Sitcom that McElhenney had been writing which later developed into “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia“. He plays a character named Mac and the show has been a huge success and is set to break the US TV record for longer running Sitcom.

Other appearances

McElhenney has made appearances in other series’ such as “Lost”, “Game of Thrones” and “Fargo”.

Personal Life

McElhenney hired Kaitlin Olson to play Dee Reynolds in “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” Around season 2 they became romantically involved and later married in 2008. Together they have two sons Axel and Leo.

McElhenney next large project is Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet which premiered on the 7th February 2020.
