Disney is doing a remake of Home Alone and Night at the Museum

Disney has announced they will be doing a remake of Home Alone for its new streaming service. Disney’s CEO Bob Iger also announced that there will be “reimaginations” of Night At the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Cheaper By the Dozen.

20th Century Fox

Disney now owns the movies after the company bought the film studio 20th Century Fox. The new service Disney+ launches in the US in November and is expected in the UK some point next year.

Home Alone is a Christmas must have film starring Macaulay Culkin. It was originally released back in 1990 and has an audience rating of 80%. The move has earned over £385m worldwide. It has two sequels which are Home Alone 2: Lost In New York and Home Alone 3.

The remakes are to be created for ‘a new generation’. It is unclear how they all will be remade and what will be different.

Many fans of Home Alone have taken to Twitter to protest and show how unhappy they are about a remake of the classic film.

Will the reboot be as good as the original? It might not be the same without the original cast…

In additions to these remakes, Disney+ will also have content from both Star Wars and Marvel. It will have more than 7,500 episodes of TV and 400 movies.

There will also be a new High School Music series on the platform, it will be High School Musical: The Musical. The 10 episode series will pick up 15 years after the original movie aired and will see the kids putting on a production of High School Musical, it will feature new songs and reinterpretations of songs from the original series.
