Dennis Reynolds
Dennis Reynolds is a fictional character played by Glenn Howerton in the F.X. dark comedy T.V. show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia“. Dennis was born on the 17th of August 1976, and he is the Twin of Deandra “Sweet Dee” Reynolds and Son of Frank Reynolds until they find out that Frank is not their real father.

Dennis’ mother smothered him with love while she treated his sister Dee poorly. This is reflected when his mother passes, and he is the only one who has been left anything of particular value.
At school, Dennis believes himself to be very popular. He later refers to his old classmates as his ‘minions’. It is later discovered that he wasn’t popular at school and he’s behaviour was seen as strange by the others at school.
Dennis sees himself as a handsome, intelligent and cultured individual, with a vast sense of grandeur. He often refers to himself as a god, and this is also reflected in the way he treats women.
The D.E.N.N.I.S System
Dennis has multiple sexual relationships throughout the show and has developed a system in ensuring that he achieves his goal of sleeping with an individual. The system is called the D.E.N.N.I.S. system and works as follows;

- Neglect Emotionally
- Inspire Hope
- Separate Entirely
He further goes to explain that he uses a situational form of control that he refers to as “The Implication” to ensure that someone engages with him sexually. One of the explanations he gives is when out at sea on a party boat, he advises Mac that when out at sea surrounded by nothing but water a woman is likely to engage with him sexually because, if she doesn’t there may be an implication. He later goes on to explain that he would never hurt someone just place a woman in a situation where she would believe that if she doesn’t, then something could happen to her.
Friendships and Relationships
Dennis’ main friends are Mac and Charlie, who have been friends since high school. Mac is almost obsessed with Dennis and always tries his best to impress him. Later it becomes evident that Mac is attracted to Dennis sexually.
Dennis is generally seen as the leader of the group, and he is often seen as the one who comes up with most of the schemes that the gang partake in and he is very controlling of the group’s behaviour.
It is later discovered that Dennis has fathered a child in North Dakota, where he stops off in the episode “The Gang beat Boggs”. However, he shunts his duties as a father and sends the mother and child back to North Dakota.
There are theories that Dennis is a serial killer but will have to see if this develops as the show continues.
