2019 NFL Mock Draft – 1.0 Picks 17-32

Picks 17-32 sees several teams with two or more picks looking to see who has slipped and filling roster holes.

  1. Giants (from Browns) Jerry Tillery (DL Norte Dame)

Assuming the Giants have traded for Rosen and have taken Taylor then they could either double down on the OL (with Cody Ford for instance) or better still add a bit of quality on the DL. We are currently going with the latter and Tillery is a better player than many think and was greatly improved last season.  Only an unspecified suspension as a freshman is counting against him.

  1. Vikings Noah Fant (TE, Iowa)

Minnesota needs to give Kirk Cousins more weapons and teaming Fant up with Kyle Rudolph would give them a formidable two TE set.

19. Titans Brian Burns (DE/OLB, Florida State)

The Titans are in a division where all the teams have good QBs Andrew Luck, Deshaun Watson and Nick Foles can all shred a defence if given time so more pass rush is a must. Burns is the lowest risk Edge rusher still on the board here.

  1. Steeler Greedy Williams (CB LSU)

The Steelers have a few holes to fill but seeing Williams slip this far is just too tempting. Williams is a potential top 10 talent who could slide due to the strength in DL & DE in this draft

  1. Seahawk Nasir Adderley, (Safety Delaware)

Seattle has lost a big chunk of their famed Legion of Boom in recent seasons, so despite being light on draft picks elect to take a Safety here rather than trading out of round one for more picks.

22. Ravens AJ Brown (WR Ole Miss)

The Ravens are all in on Lamar Jackson at QB so he will need someone to pass to. Brown should become his go to in the slot and he has a great combination of strength & speed.

23. Texans Greg Little, (OT, Ole Miss)

The Texans must protect Deshaun Watson better if he is going to last in the NFL; he was sacked 62 times last year! Little should be an instant starter. Cody Ford is a possible here but may not be as NFL ready.

24. Raiders (From the Bears) Jachai Polite, (EDGE, Florida)

Polite had a combine to forget, but he was injured coming into it and a few immature comments can’t disguise the fact that he is a monster off the edge. He is worth the risk here and if Oakland are to challenge the Chiefs & Chargers, they will need every bit of pressure the can muster.

25. Eagles Christian Wilkins, (DT, Clemson)

Wilkins had a great 2018 and was an unsung hero in Clemson’s National Title run. He is versatile and can be used in pass rush if needed.

26. Colts  Dexter Lawrence (DT, Clemson)

The Colts are not far from having a decent defence (finally) and Lawrence will add some bulk & steel to the inside.

27. Raiders (From Dallas) Byron Murphy, CB, Washington

Murphy like Polite above didn’t shine at the combine but he had a nice 2018 in the pass-heavy PAC 12. He is far better than his showing there and will fill a massive need in their backfield.

28. Chargers  Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State

Dillard is a great pass blocker (he had to be given Marner Minshew hardly handed the ball off last year) and given the roster is stacked as it is, protecting Rivers blind side is probably the best use of their 1st round pick.

29. Chiefs Devin Bush (LB Michigan)

Kansas need to reload on defence and Devin Bush is the best LB left on the board and a bargain here.

30. Packers (From New Orleans) Josh Jacobs (RB Alabama)

Green Bay can’t keep relying on Rodgers to win games with his arm. They are lacking at WR but with Hockenson added to the receiving mix an every-down bell Cow RB makes sense here.

31. Rams Deandre Baker, (CB, Georgia)

Rams need help in the secondary and Baker is great value here.

32. Patriots Jeffery Simmons,(DT, Mississippi State)

Had he not torn his ACL in February, Simmons would probably have gone top 10. With a bit of luck he will be fully fit by late November – just in time to join New England’s annual pilgrimage to the postseason.
