Whatsapp update will stop users taking screenshots of private chats

A new Whatsapp update stops people from taking screenshots of private conversations. The new feature is a part of their security changes in line with the app’s commitment to privacy.

It does not block someone from taking screenshots of chats but it will avoid users from sharing the private messages online or to another user. If you turn on the apps highest security setting it means no one can screenshot your private messages.

The change comes as a part of an authentication feature. The feature allows people to set a fingerprint access to the conversations which adds another layer of security so that people cannot get access to your phone or read private messages.

Whatsapp Beta said: “In this beta update we find a new improvements for the Authentication feature (that’s not available yet).
When the Authentication feature will be enabled, your fingerprint is obviously required to open WhatsApp, but conversation screenshots are blocked.
It means you won’t be longer able to screenshot your chats if you enable that feature.”

The details of the new screenshot blocking comes from early versions of the app that is available for some users on Android. This is currently a testing feature and it could be changed or removed  before being released to the public.
