Ed Oliver How High Should He Go?

Ed Oliver How High Should He Go?

With only a few weeks to go till the 2019 draft its time to have another look at one of the best players in the draft that no one seems to be talking about Houston’s Ed Oliver. With all the Kyler Murray hype and the Edge rusher talk its easy to forget that successful teams tend to have solid Linemen and Oliver is one of the best prospects at this position in recent times. A former five-star recruit who chose a Group of Five team over numerous Power Conference offers, almost single-handedly turned the Cougars from a decent team into BCS contenders and only an injury-marred campaign has caused his stock to plummet.

At  6-foot-2, 287 pounds he may not have typical DL size, but he makes up for this in skill and mobility 36-inch vertical jump, 10-foot broad jump are impressive for the position and 32 reps on the bench press show he has some natural strength. A few months with NFL conditioning coaches and he could be a monster in the middle.

Currently, most Mock Drafts have him going outside the top 10 and some dropping deep into the teens, however, we think he will go top 10 and is overall worthy of being one of the top 5 prospects in the draft.  We currently have him pegged to go no 8 to the Lions, however, it would be no surprise if the 49ers took him at 2 and the Raiders and Bucks are also possible top 5 landing places. Wherever he goes we are looking forward to seeing him tearing it up in the NFL.
