Covid-19 is spreading around faster than we can contain it, but the UK have said that the spread is slowly stopping and is slowly getting better, the death rate is still going up but since there is no cure, there is no way to slow this down, however the UK have started doing testing for millions. The government have loosened the rules on who can apply and have allowed everyone to be able to get tested a day, to see if they have the virus and see if they are needing to go into intensive care about it. Testing expanded last week to all key workers in England with symptoms and everyone in their households.

Testing capacity has now increased to 73,400 a day according to those in Downing Street, Home testing is needed to certain people and this is great for those who have symptoms but don’t know if they have the virus or not. “From construction workers to emergency plumbers, from research scientists to those in manufacturing, the expansion of access to testing will protect the most vulnerable and help keep people safe.” said Matt Hancock.

Downing street has refused to confirm if Boris Johnson will appear at Prime Minister’s questions later on, however it is set to be his first appearance since the virus hit him. These are the people who can get tested in England?

  • Hospital Patients suspected of Covid-19
  • All those working on the frontline, with or without symptoms
  • Patients in the NHS and Residents in care homes
  • All essential workers with symptoms
  • Anyone over 65 with symptoms
  • Anyone who has symptoms or lives with someone who meets any of the above.
