Covid-19 has nearly surpassed in the UK, with barely anyone bothering to test and anyone bothering if they have the virus or not anymore, many places around the world have stopped the use of testing every week, however, Hospitals in the UK continued this to ensure safety across the NHS, however, this could be put on hold!

From the 31st of August 2022, NHS and Social workers will not be offered lateral flow testing unless they have symptoms or feel sick during their time at work.

This is due to the Covid-19 rates dropping recently, meaning there is not much reason to test anyone as much anymore.

The Department of Health said that, under the new rules, routine asymptomatic Covid testing of staff and existing patients or residents would be paused in:

  • the NHS
  • adult social care and hospice services
  • parts of the prison estate and some places of detention
  • certain domestic abuse refuges and homelessness settings

Stats the BBC.

Covid infections rate

This will only be mandatory for those who are ill and have some Covid-19 like symptoms. This has allowed them to save some tests for those who really need them.
