Antoine Griezmann completed his transfer to one of the biggest clubs in Europe, Barcelona, and moved there for a massive $120 million. Barcelona activated his release clause on the 12th July 2019 and signed him through that, however Atletico believe that the amount should have been more than what they sent them. Griezmann’s release clause was originally $200 million but went down to $120 million 1st July, however they believe the deal was done before the 1st July!
“La Liga will have to decide what course of action to take.” meaning that Griezmann could be on his way back to his former club since they could be blocking the transfer from going through! Barcelona have already used him in a game however, they used Griezmann in there defeat to Chelsea on the 24th July, but could be going back to them after, if they do block the transfer.
Atletico reported Barcelona to FIFA over an alleged illegal approach for Griezmann back in 2017, however they never went through with it. Barcelona then tried again to sign Griezmann last summer and apparently tried to talk to him in March, but all offers were rejected. This could be the first time a player has played for there new club and then goes back to there former due to transfer issues in La Liga. Should this be allowed?
