This film to me means a lot as I grew up watching all the Toy Story’s with my family. Throughout my years of watching all these films I have of course picked my favourite character which I think everyone around the world did. Mine like most people is Woody.
In this film you see how Disney Pixar know that their audience is more grown up now, but it is also still aimed at children. Whilst watching this film you will laugh, be scared, and even cry. Watching this film in the cinema I got to see what it meant to everyone and how they all have different memories to it.
Whilst watching the film you get to meet a lot of characters old and new, one of the characters that they brought back was Bo Peep. Bo peep, her sheep and the lamp were given away to another kid because Andy’s sister was getting too old, there is a short flashback at the beginning of the film to show this happening just so the audience know why Bo Peep coming back is a big thing. In this film Bo Peep is not the same character she used to be, she is more grown up and knows how to deal with the world, she is also classed as a “lost toy” a lost toy is someone who doesn’t have a kid, this is how Bo Peep wants it to be but for a lot of the toys you see in the film it isn’t and they make it clear that what they are wishing for is a kid to love and be loved by.
A new character that they added is called Forky the spork who Bonnie created on her first day of kindergarten with the help of Woody (who was hiding in her backpack) and the trash that Woody got the supplies from. From the second Forky is made he knows he is “trash” so that is where he tries to put himself. However, throughout the film he learns what it is to be a toy with the help of Woody and Gaby Gaby who is also a new character, Gabby Gabby is a doll whose dream is the be loved and cared for by a child, but this is not possible as she was made "broken" and all she is hopping for is a new voice box to make this dream come true.
Woody is another story though as at the beginning of the films in Toy Story 1 he wasn’t the best toy in my opinion as he is very much against change and the possibility of another toy being Andy’s favourite, this is shown when Buzz comes into the film and Andy spends his time playing with Buzz and changing his room decorations to Buzz themed and no longer Woody themed. Woody spends his time hating Buzz because of the jealousy, but as you watch the film, and all the others go on you get to see Woody change a huge amount and you watch him also accept that children might have a favourite toy, but they will also love and cherish all the other toys they have as well.
This film is what wrapped up a great tetralogy and it will always be something that a lot of kids will grow up watching for many years as adults pass down their memories to their children and even the grandchildren of them watching it with their parents, siblings and even maybe their friends growing up.
