Laura Prepon (Laura Helene Prepon) – Early Life

Laura Prepon was born on 7th March 1980. She was born in Watchung, New Jersey. Her Father, Michael Prepon, passed away in 1993 when she was 13. Prepon is the youngest of 5 children, and her mother, Marjorie, was a High school teacher.

 

Prepon Attended Watchung Regional High School and studied ballet, dance and acting. Prepon attended New York City’s Total Theater Lab from age 15. The aspiring actress convinced her mother to drive her into the city for many weekend auditions and soon began landing modelling jobs both stateside and abroad. Later, in September 1997, she premiered on a Levi Strauss-developed show, “They Go On”, an Internet-based show. Prepon had also worked as a model and had done photo shoots in Paris, Milan, and Brazil.

 

With minimal acting experience under her belt, she auditioned for her role on That ’70s Show. She, as others suspected, unlikely that she would land the role. However, the producers were quick to note that Prepon’s natural disposition was perfect for the part.

 

Prepon, therefore, starred as Donna Pinciotti on the Fox sitcom “That ’70s Show” from 1998 to 2006. Donna was a friend turned girlfriend and next-door neighbour of Eric Forman. The show went on for an impressive 200 episodes before it finally finished in 2006.

 

Film appearances

 

In 2001 Prepon made her first film appearance in “Southlander.” Where she played the minor role of “Seven Equals Five.”

 

In 2002 Prepon went on to play “Reanna Cass” in “Slackers”, a gross-out/romantic comedy film directed by Dewey Nicks. Prepon’s character Reanna ends up with “Sam Schecter”, who is played by Jason Segel.

 

She further went on to appear in “Lightning Bug” (2004) where she was also the executive producer, “The Pornographer: A True Story” (2004), “Karla” (2006), “Come Early Morning” (2006) “Once Upon a Time” (2007), “The Chosen One” (2007) a vocal role, “Lay the favourite” (2012), “The Kitchen Jennifer” (2012), “The Girl On The Train” (2016) and “The Hero” (2017).

 

TV appearances

 

Prepon has made several TV appearances. Her leading roles apart from “That ’70’s Show” have been; “October Road” (2007-2008) and “Are You There, Chelsea?” 2012.

 

Alex Vause – Orange is the new Black.

 

Prepon’s re-raise to fame was in 2013 when she was cast as Alex Vause, the girlfriend of “Piper Chapman” played by Taylor Schilling in the Netflix smash hit “Orange Is the New Black” Prepon appeared as one of the leading roles in Season 1,3,4,5,6, and 7. She also Directed; Season 5, Episode 10: “The Reverse Midas Touch”, Season 6, Episode 11: “Well This Took a Dark Turn”, and Season 7, Episode 5: “Minority Deport”.

 

Laura Prepon – Personal Life

 

Prepon was in a relationship with Christopher Masterson from 1999 to 2007. She then entered a relationship with Scott Michael Foster, which ended in 2013. She married actor Ben Foster in 2018, and they welcomed their first child in August 2017.
