Taylor Schilling, most commonly known for her role as “Piper Chapman” in the Netflix comedy-drama “Orange is the new Black” was born on 27th July 1984 in Boston.

Taylor Schilling – Debut Film appearance

Schilling made her debut film appearance in 2007 where she played Jackie in the independent film “Dark Matter”. She then moved on to play “Veronica Flanagan Callahan” in 2009-10 in the short-lived NBC TV series “Mercy”. She played a hardened war veteran military nurse turned medical practitioner

Schilling then went on to play Dagny Taggart in the film Atlas Shrugged: Part I in 2011. She then went on to star in the romantic drama film “The Lucky” alongside Zac Efron in 2012. In same year Taylor Schilling played a minor role in the movie “Argo” which was directed and starred Ben Afflick who played the CIA operative “Tony Mendez”.

Taylor Schilling – “Orange is the new Black.”

2013 saw Taylor Schilling rising to a new level of fame when she starred began her journey as “Piper Chapman” in “Orange is the new Black”. The Series first aired on Netflix on the 11th July 2013 and continued for a total of 7 seasons, and the show ran from 2013 to 2019.

Schilling won Best Actress by the Satellite and Webby awards in 2013, she again won Best Actress by Satellite in 2016 and 2017. Between 2013 and 2018 she was also nominated Best actress in the Golden Globes, Primetime Emmy Awards and the People’s Choice Awards.

During Shilling’s time playing “Piper Chapman,” she also starred in numerous films such as; “Stay” (2013), “The Overnight” (2015), “Take Me” (2017), “Phil” (2017), “The Public” (2018), “The Titan” (2018), “Family” (2018) and “The Prodigy” (2019).

Taylor Schilling – Personal life

Schilling was born on 27th July 1984, in Boston, Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Patricia and Robert J. Schilling. Schilling spent her early years living in West Roxbury and Wayland as her parents had divorced when she was 15. She was a fan of the NBC medical drama ER in her youth, and she began acting at a young age. She appeared in her middle school’s stage production of Fiddler on the Roof.

She graduated high school in 2002 from Wayland High School. Schilling attended Fordham University’s campus at the Lincoln Center, where she continued to take part in stage productions and earned her Bachelor of Arts in 2006. Schilling then spent two years at the graduate program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. However, she left to start auditioning while attempting to make her big break. Schilling supported herself by working as a nanny for a family that lived in Manhattan.
