Today marks World Oceans Day, this day encourages the world for conservation action in June and throughout the year. Coordinated since 2002 by The Ocean Project, a growing community of aquariums, zoos, museums, schools, youth groups, universities, businesses, recreational stakeholders, maritime interests, faith communities, conservation organizations and many more participate by holding events or recognizing the day in some way.
In 1949 George Orwell's influential dystopian novel, 1984 was published, the novel introduced us to the notorious Big Brother. 7
Laki, or Skafta, volcano erupted on this day in 1783. This is seen as one of the most violent and important volcanic eruptions in Modern times. The eruption lasted for 8 months and expelled an estimated 41 cubic miles of Lava, the eruption contributed to an estimate of 10,000 deaths.
Over in America in 1789 The bill of rights was proposed on the 8th June by James madison. This day also Marks Upsy Daisy day which is a day to remind people to get up gloriously, gratefully and gleefully each morning.
