Nintendo Planning To Release A Smaller, Cheaper Switch

A report from Japanese media outlet Nikkei claims Nintendo is developing a smaller, cheaper version of its Nintendo Switch.

It’s rumoured that this Switch will focus on portability, meaning it will cut some features to bring the price AND size down, but it’s not yet known what those features might be.

Some guesses as to which features will be removed might be the console dock, which would make sense as the report suggests that the new console will be more portable and easier to use outdoors. Losing the cartridge slot could also be an option, as Nintendo places more emphasis on downloadable content and its new online service. But at this point no one really knows. I guess we’ll just have to wait for an announcement from an English speaking outlet to get all of the proper details, as time will have passed so the console will be in the later development stages so people can be certain of what features it will and will not have.
