Dallas Sign Randall Cobb To Replace Cole Beasley Is It An Upgrade?

After a couple of uncharacteristically poor seasons in Green Bay, it was almost inevitable that changes would be made and sadly as a Packers fan one of the casualties has been WR Randall Cobb who Dallas has inked to a $5m One year prove it type deal. Although the Cowboys might still look to add a slot receiver in the draft this move is pretty much replacing longtime servant Cole Beasley who was surprisingly let go despite having one of his best seasons in 2018. He is off for the sunnier climes of Buffalo (well not so sunny) and should help the Bills challenge for second spot in the AFC East.

Anyhow they now have a serviceable if injury-prone replacement who has had an up and down career with the Packers – outstanding in 2014 almost great in 2015 and all downhill since. He has missed 21 possible starts in his Packers career and only started 6 games in 2018. Still, Cole Beasley was never really a starter in Dallas, playing in all but one game since 2014 but only starting 19 times. If they intend to use Cobb in the same role then this is pretty much a like for like replacement and if Cobb recaptures his 2014 -2015 form then its a big step up for them.
