Clay Matthews Now A Ram as the Packers Elect To Let Him Go

After Ten seasons as a Green bay regular OLB Clay Matthews has finally moved on signing with the La Rams on a two-year deal. Matthews has been a star for the Packers much of his time there, however, 2018 was probably his worst season production wise and his confidence seemed to take a knock after getting those early season roughing the passer calls against him. He finished with 3.5 sacks – not as bad as it sounds given the anaemic Packers defence, however with their new defensive acquisitions he had become surplus to requirements.

He will join a pretty formidable Rams DL which includes the resigned Dante Fowler, so his role may be more bit part. Still, he will be at home in LA given he began his road to the NFL with USC. Overall it looks like a nice move by the Rams who have added a bit of depth on a team friendly deal, and even if he is not the player he was back in 2014 when he was racking up the sacks he will have better defenders around him which should help.
