It has been reported that many states in the USA, where most Coronavirus cases continue to be, are reporting thousands of new cases every day.
The virus has been widespread in the States for a while now – more so than anywhere else in the world.
Reports say that California had 5,019 new cases on Monday, which has once again broke the state’s daily case record for the fourth time over the past week, whilst in Florida and Arizona, officials announced 3,289 and 3,591 new cases, respectively. This is more than the entire UK – by a long shot.
Texan officials say that hospital cases are rising at the fastest rate since the whole outbreak started, which has been called “unacceptable”.
The states mentioned above are included in 26 states in the US which have case numbers on the rise since this week.
“We were able to control and contain the virus because of these shelter-in-place orders. Americans sacrificed so much for that to happen, people lost their jobs, kids went out of school and that was to buy us time,” said Ex-Baltimore City Health Commissioner, Dr. Leana Wen. X
The pandemic has even been described as “spiralling out of control” by one source, and it sort of seems that way. Trump and those close to him are being continuously criticised for the way the pandemic has been handled, as they’re the only country with over 2 million confirmed cases – it only took a few months to get there, too.
American citizens are still being told that the safest place to be right now is at home, but there are many who still defy this guidance. Protests in the street will likely be considered the reason so many cases are on the rise again, as little to no social distancing is being adhered to. The pandemic is far from over, so if you’re an American citizen – stay safe and stick by all the guidance you can, it’s there for a reason!
