Premier League – Tottenham All But Clinch Final Champion League Place

One way or another it looks highly likely that Tottenham will limp their way into the Champions League again next season – thanks largely to another inept performance by Arsenal, which will put pressure on now managerĀ  Unai Emery. After it looked like Spurs had given their London rivals a lifeline with that disappointing performance at Bournemouth, Arsenal could only draw at home to Brighton – who had nothing to play for making it a dismal 1 point haul from their last 4 games.

Mathematically Arsenal can still finish fourth, but they would also have to make up for their inferior goal difference, something not helped by their convincing defeats at both Wolves & Leicester. One ray of hope for Arsenal Fans going forward is the Europa League where they have a 3-1 advantage and winning the trophy would give them a Group place and England 5 places overall. Still, they would have to win it as if Chelsea were to meet them in the final and win then the extra place would go to the French as there is no place for a losing finalist.

Tottenham could also win the Champions League (they are 1-0 down to Ajax in the Semi) and in that case, 5th place would also qualify, however, the way Arsenal are playing Manchester United could easily catch them in the final game.
