Sterling is a top-quality player, he has managed to make a name for himself, by being one of the best young players in the league and still has potential to be better, however Sterling did something against Shakhtar that he regrets doing! A penalty was given to Manchester City due to Sterling tripping! How could the referee allow this! Even if he managed to miss the trip and just seen Sterling go down, he could have used VAR! VAR should have been used in this situation because it’s unfair on Shakhtar! What’s the point of having VAR if the referees don’t use it in situations like this. Sterling has come out and said he apologises for that penalty error. Sterling has said “I don’t think I felt contact, it was just my bad. I hit the floor and scuffed the floor. Apologies to the ref and apologies to Shakhtar.”. Hopefully if this happens again, the referee will look on VAR next time!
