Manchester United turned to most of their youth players to try and see if any of their youth are going to be prospects in the future or if they are needing more work on the training ground, however they still had some world class players such as Pogba and Daniel James. Rochdale seemed to be out of form and kept losing the ball due to bad passing and extremely bad decisions near there box, however for all of Rochdale’s mistakes paid off and Manchester United couldn’t work out how to score past their goalkeeper.
In the first half, not many chances for Rochdale was made and they seemed like they were going to lose the fight no matter what and by a massive score line, however Manchester United couldn’t score a goal at all. The second half was the half Manchester United finally scored. Scoring in the 58th minute, Manchester United started to perform like a Premier League team, however in the 76th minute a 16-year-old by the name of Luke Matheson scored a great goal against Manchester united to give Rochdale the chance to win the game in penalties! Rochdale ended up losing this game on pens 5-3.

Luke Matheson is a young schoolboy that has the chance to become a great professional player and is looking like he will be. On Wednesday, he scored the goal to almost put Rochdale back into the game and win the game, Thursday morning, he was getting ready for a Psychology test. “I struck it and it hit the roof of the net and my body just took over,” said Matheson. Now he has made his mark, he will most likely be in the first team for some time after this game!
