It wouldn’t be the Premier League without a few upsets, and they were rife this weekend.

First up was Wolves hosting to Crystal Palace, where two unlikely goal scorers sealed the game for Wolves. Palace seemed to lose their head after not very long, and ended up getting a player sent off late in the game.

City travelled to sheffield to take on Sheffield United for Saturdays first game, and it’s safe to say it was an interesting one, despite the lack of goals. It’s debatable whether we got an insight into a poor Man City team, or a strong defending Sheffield team, but either way, City were able to only put one past them the whole game, which is an impressive feat.

Liverpool initially went behind to West Ham, leaving fans worried about games to come without key players like Fabinho and Van Dijk, both who play strong defensive positions. But, not too long after the first goal was scored in the first half, Salah buried a penalty making it equal just before half time.

After the break, Jota, the newcomer from Wolves, scored two goals – but the first one was disallowed due to a decision by the ref.

It’s not the first time recently the new signing has came to Liverpool’s aid, and the game ended 2-1.

Villa, who are playing much better than they usually do, hosted an also in form Southampton, in a game that was filled with goals. It was a very backwards and forwards game, but the visitors always had the edge.

Without Ward-Prowse’s impressive two free kicks which were buried into the back of the net, it could have easily been a different score, but when you need goals scoring from a set piece, everyone knows he’s your man. The game ended 4-3 Southampton, with a late goal from Grealish getting Villa a third goal which never really influenced the game.

The real upset came from Newcastle, however, as they beat previous leaders Everton, knocking them off the top spot. But no write up can ever fully describe a game like that, so check out the highlights which we’ve linked for you, and also check below for the full results from the weekend.
