There were certainly young Deadpool fans who were not allowed to see Deadpool 2.
There were most likely younger people who snuck in, but they were not able to pay for tickets and contribute to Deadpool 2’s already huge box office. The creators of Deadpool have been working on a PG-13 edit of Deadpool 2 for a while now, and it will be hitting the screens in December; the 21st to be exact. And now, thanks to writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, we know it won’t just be a chopped up take on the movie, but will actually feature new footage.
The PG-13 rerelease will allow younger viewers to buy tickets, but Reese and Wernick also hope adult Deadpool fans go back too. “I think it’s not only going to appeal to kids but also to people who love Deadpool,” Wernick said. “I think it’s subversive enough and fun and creative and something that only Deadpool could do. So I think it’s going to be a real joy for not only a whole new audience, but also an audience that has seen and loved the Deadpool movies.”
I’m a huge Deadpool fan myself, so I’m really excited to see a “child friendly” version of the film and to see how the writers have re-modelled the story line so its suitable for younger people. (Which I bet they had a hard time doing).
