You see them wearing designer clothes and driving flashy cars, but how much money do musical artists make?
In particular, how much do they get from streaming alone? It’s probably one of the harder questions to answer. Like, if you do a concert and 50k people turn up paying $1 each, you can easily assume the artist has earned anywhere up to 50k for the show. (This is hypothetical, there will obviously be expenses to pay for so it’s unlikely the artist will get the whole 50k, it’s just to demonstrate that you can make assumptions with other forms of income, whilst income from streaming is different for everyone and often very illusive). So what do the numbers say?
Now, the latest streaming music data dump comes from an independent rapper, who will remain unnamed but leaked his/her payout spreadsheets to an industry executive.
Here it is:

Keep in mind that some of these services are paid and other are free, and some have paid services not featured on here. This is just a rough guide to go off now, as things have changed in the industry for example companies have been sold and bought, different policies have been put in place and new services have been released.
