3 People in Prison for the Longest Time!

For some of us, being in prison is not on our wishlist. In fact, for a lot of us, being in prison is a huge no. However, for some people, they do the crime and end up doing time. However, some people end up being in prison for longer than they bargained for, and some may stay in for less time but still a long time. Others decide they want to stay as others try and try to get out, but these are the top 3 inmates in prison for the longest time!

Paul Geidel Jr.

This man was known as the longest-serving inmate until one other inmate beat him and is still in Prison to this day. He ended up in Jail because he was convicted of second-degree murder in 1911 at the age of 17. He was sentenced to life in 1911 and was released from prison in 1980. Meaning he was in prison for 68 years and 245 days. Paul Geidel Jr was 17 when he entered that prison and was released at the age of 86. He later died in a nursing home in 1987, at the age of 93.

Francis Clifford Smith.

Francis Clifford Smith was the oldest prisoner in Connecticut. He was sentenced to death but currently is still serving time in Prison. He was sentenced there because he murdered a night watchman during a robbery at a yacht club in July 1949. He has been in prison for 70 years and 7 days and will continue to stay there until they let him out. Smith is now in the Osborn Correctional Institution.

Charles Fossard.

This man was sentenced to prison in 1903 after he murdered an elderly man and stole his boots. He was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. Charles Fossard was a homeless French Australian man and has now become the longest inmate ever. Being in prison from 1903 to 1974. Making that 70 years and 303 days in prison before he died at the age of 92.
