On this day in 1943, Laszlo Biro Patented the Ballpoint pen and the 10the of June marks national ballpoint pen day. Also on this day, Dr Robert Smith completed his first day of permanent sobriety and it is considered that the 10th of June marks the date that he and William G. Wilson created Alcoholics Anonymous in 1935.

Over in Portugal, it is a National holiday where they commemorate the anniversary of the death in 1580 of Portugal's national poet, Luís Vaz de Camões.

Finally on this date in 1921 Prince Phillip was born and so was Judy Garland in 1922.
