The 2019 NFL season has not even started yet and Antonio Brown is facing suspension for his latest outburst. Not content with making a fuss about his helmet, he goes on to take umbridge for being fined for not turning up to work and then threatens the teams General Manager. You couldn’t make it up!
Will Antonio Brown even suit up for the Raiders?
Editorial credit: Jeff Bukowski / Shutterstock.comSo what now – well its hard to see a way back from this and given Oakland can pretty much rip up his contract, saving themselves a heap of monety and cap space (as well as the comedic drama), moving on is a plan. The way forward would be to suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team thus voiding all the guaranteed money in his monster contract. Thus no cap hit and he has already voided some of his $1 million signing bonus by not turning up for most of pre season practice.
So will the Raiders invoke Article 42 and then cut Brown?
Well it will probably be the option of last resort, as it would no doubt lead to a grievance being filed, something which would be distracting, and cutting him would allow him to move on to another team (if anyone was wiilling to take the chance, New England?). When his head is straight and his ego is in check there is no doubt he is one of the leaguues best Wide Receivers so although he won’t be around week one, hopefully they will sort it out.

Hopefully it will be decided one way of the other soon as it will be a shame for the 100th season not to have one of its best players on display.
